I love making quick breakfasts that feel indulgent but don’t take much time. This Crispy Honey Toast is one of my favorite lazy-day recipes—it’s crunchy, sweet, and ready in just 20 minutes with the help of an air fryer.

Crispy Honey Toast (Lazy Breakfast Version)

I’m so excited to share this recipe because it’s perfect for busy mornings. With just a few slices of toast, eggs, milk, and honey, I can create a golden crispy treat that’s soft inside and caramelized on the outside.Honey Toast (1)Honey Toast (2)Honey Toast (3)Honey Toast (4)

Why You‘ll Love This Recipe

  • Quick and beginner-friendly—done in about 20 minutes.
  • No oven needed—just an air fryer.
  • Crispy outside, soft inside, with a sweet honey glaze.
  • Easy to adjust for sweet or savory versions.

Ingredients (1 serving)

  • 4 slices white toast, Choose fresh, firm slices. Avoid overly soft or very dry bread.
  • 2 medium eggs, 2 eggs give richer flavor, but 1 egg is enough to coat the toast.
  • 30ml whole milk, Optional, but makes the inside softer and more tender.
  • 10–15g honey, Use smooth honey (acacia or multifloral). Avoid crystallized honey for even brushing.

Instructions

Step 1: Prep Ingredients

Cut the toast into triangles (or small cubes if preferred). Use a sharp knife to prevent crumbling.Cut the toast into triangles

In a shallow dish, whisk together 2 eggs and 30ml milk until smooth. Do not over-beat—just mix until no visible egg whites remain.whisk together 2 eggs and 30ml milk until smooth

Step 2: Coat Toast + First Bake

Quickly dip toast slices into the egg-milk mixture, flipping each side for only 3–5 seconds.dip toast slices into the egg milk mixture
Note: Do not soak too long, or the toast will become soggy when baked.

Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (≈355°F) for 3 minutes. Line the basket with parchment paper.

Place coated toast inside, and bake at 180°C for 5 minutes. Flip gently and bake for another 5 minutes.Place coated toast inside

Step 3: Brush Honey + Second Bake

Remove toast and brush a thin, even layer of honey on the surface (both sides if you like).brush a thin, even layer of honey on the surface
Note: Always brush honey after the first bake, not before.

Return toast to the air fryer at 180°C for 3–5 minutes until golden and crispy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did my toast turn soggy?
You may have soaked the bread too long in the egg mixture. Just dip quickly on each side.

Why should I add honey later instead of earlier?
If you brush honey before baking, it melts into the egg mixture, loses aroma, and makes the toast stick to the pan.

What if my toast doesn‘t brown enough?
Different air fryer models vary. Add 1–2 extra minutes if needed, but don’t exceed 8 minutes or it may burn and taste bitter.

Can I make a savory version?
Yes! Add 1g salt to the egg mixture and skip honey. Sprinkle with cheese or black pepper after baking.
